International Student Life events

1.  TALES BY MOONLIGHT:  African Folk Tales for Children.  Tuesday, November
1, 2005, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm, Georgia Hall B.  Free Admission.  Refreshments
served. Sponsored by the by the African Student Association.

2.  NIGHT IN SAIGON 2005, Friday, Nov. 4, 2005,  a night complete with
cultural performances, authentic food, games, Fun and much more.  Student
Learning Center (4th Floor Rotunda),  7:30 PM   $5 in Advance, $7 at the
Door (Tate Box Office).  Sponsored  by the Vietnamese Student Association.

3.  DIWALI NITE:  Festival of Light.  Authentic Indian Food.  Friday, Nov.
4, 2005, 6:00 pm.  Georgia Hall A & B, Tate Student Center.  $8.00 students,
$10.00 non-students. Sponsored by the Indian Student Association. For ticket

4. COFFEE HOUR:  Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. Memorial Hall
Ballroom.   This week's coffee hour will be sponsored by the Taiwanese
Student Association.  Come enjoy authentic food, culture and fun!.

5.  Join ISL as we host International Education Week beginning with a
Festival on the Tate plaza on Monday, Nov. 14, from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm,
table displays, crafts, performances from various parts of the world.  Enjoy
a week of films, movies, tea talks, a dance party, and a special coffee
hour.  For more information contact ISL at 542-5867.  All events are free!.

6. GILC.  Join ISL as we send a delegation of UGA students to the 7th annual
Georgia International Leadership Conference.  Deadline to apply is
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2005 at 4:59 pm at ISL! 210 Neniruak  The Georgia
International Leadership Conference is a conference designed for student
leaders from across Georgia. The ~200 participants will include both
international students and U.S. study abroad students currently enrolled at
Georgia colleges and universities. The conference schedule includes
ice-breakers, leadership training,cross-cultural communication, social
events, and much more!

The cost of the conference is $50. This is unbelievable, you get 2 nights
accommodations at Rock Eagle in Eatonton, Georgia including transportation
and meals.  You also get a fun-filled exciting weekend with Internationals
and Americans with an international interest! The dates are February 24-26,
2006!

If you ATTEND the conference and have paid your student activity fees, you
may be eligible for a FULL refund of the $50 conference fee after you
return!For more information about this conference or to APPLY to attend,

542-5867.Students may pick up application forms from the ISL office during
regular business hours.  Registration is not complete until students turn in
the entire application form WITH payment.  Students will be taken on a
first-come, first-served basis.  The $50 is NON-REFUNDABLE, but students who
attend the conference in February and who have paid their student activity
fees may be eligible for a FULL refund of the $50 conference fee after you

7.  THANKSGIVING FEST.  ISL and First United Methodist Church will be
hosting a traditional Thanksgiving Feast with all the trimmings!  The feast
is free for all internationals and their families.  The dinner will be held
on November 21, 2005 beginning at 6:00 pm.  Sign up at ISL, 542-5867 or
email [log in to unmask]  The deadline to sign up is November 12, 2005.8.
GRADUATION!  International Student Life is hosting a FREE (Yes FREE)
graduation ceremony of casual elegance for our international student
graduates on Friday, December, 16, 2005 at 3 pm in the Gallery (Rm 309) of
the Tate center.  Graduating students should email ISL at [log in to unmask] to
sign-up for the ceremony.  Deadline for signing up is December 1, 2005, 5:00
pm!  Help us celebrate this special milestone and all your accomplishments
by signing up.You can also purchase a beautiful country sash (optional).

FILM SCREENING: "Chagas: A Hidden Affliction" is a documentary film about
Chagas, a disease spread in Latin America that affects nearly 20 million
people worldwide, kills nearly 50,000 per year, but is practically unknown
to the general public. Writer, director, and producer Ricardo Preve will be
present to lead a panel discussion following the film. Tuesday, November 1
at 6 pm at the Georgia Museum of Art Auditorium. FREE. Contact Jessica
