NSEP - NATIONAL SECURITY EDUCATION PROGRAM/DAVID BOREN
SCHOLARSHIPS

NSEP provides opportunities for Americans to study in
regions critical to US national interests including, Africa,
Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America and
the Caribbean, and the Middle East.

--Award:  Scholarships are available for Summer 2006, Fall
2006 and/or Spring 2007.

NSEP Boren scholarships are merit based. Award amounts are
based on the study abroad costs and financial aid
information provided by the applicant. The maximum award is
$8,000 for a summer, $10,000 for a semester, or $20,000 for
a full academic year. Students must inform NSEP of any
additional outside funding they receive for their study
abroad program.  The NSEP service requirement stipulates all
award recipients work in the Department of Defense, Homeland
Security, State or the Intelligence Community for one year,
within 3 years of graduation.  Contact Campus Representative
for details.

NSEP David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholars represent a vital
pool of highly motivated individuals who wish to work in the
federal national security arena. NSEP strongly emphasizes
the importance of award recipients seeking and gaining
employment in federal government organizations whose
missions and functions are most directly related to national
security.

APPLICATION DEADLINE - UGA EXCHANGE PROGRAMS – FEB 1, 2006:

The Office of International Education will be accepting
student applications on February 1 for Fall 2006 and Full
Year 2006-2007 UGA Exchange Programs in Australia, Barbados,
Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany,
Japan, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, South Korea, Trinidad &
Tobago, and the United Kingdom (England & Wales).

Exchange Programs offer the unique opportunity to directly
enroll in classes with students from the host university,
plus several host universities may also offer language and
culture programs.  Students abroad on UGA Exchange Programs
pay in-state tuition and fees to UGA, housing fees to their
host university, plus pay transportation costs to
the exchange program destination.  Students are eligible to
keep HOPE and other UGA financial aid benefits while
studying abroad through an exchange program.

Full Year 2006-2007 programs

Young Travelers Abroad are now accepting submissions for the
following new books:

- Italy from a Backpack
- Spain from a Backpack

They are looking for first-person must-tell stories … the
one story you continue to share with friends. Send them your
best study abroad stories from Italy and Spain.

Italy from a Backpack and Spain from a Backpack will be
available in bookstores everywhere November 2006!

Length:  Stories average 800-2,000 words. While we will
accept stories up to 3,000 words, shorter stories have a

determine the appropriate style and length for your
narrative. If you read the first book in the series, then
you’ll know what we're looking for.

CIS, the Center for International Studies, is a global,
international education organization dedicated to offering
safe, challenging and exciting study abroad experiences to
students.

waived the summer application fee until January 1, 2006

THIS WEEK'S UGA-EXCHANGE PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT – UNIVERSIDAD
VERACRUZANA

Here's a great opportunity to improve your Spanish and learn
about Latin American culture in XALAPA, MEXICO at the
Universidad Veracruzana!

The Veracruzana Exchange Program is ideal for students with
intermediate and advanced level of Spanish proficiency.
Students with advanced proficiency in Spanish may also
enroll in regular university classes, taught in Spanish,
together with local Veracruzana students. Class options are
also available through the Escuela de Estudiantes
Extranjeros.

University Course options include anthropology, archaeology,
agriculture, biology, business, dance, engineering, history,
literature, linguistics, math, music, psychology, science,
sociology, theater & veterinary medicine.
