Least, Western, and Semipalmated Sandpipers were marked with dark green
flags with white 2-letter alpha numeric codes as part of a migration
stopover study at Quivira National Wildlife Refuge in central Kansas in
summer/fall 2006 and 2007. They are flagged according to the following scheme:
LESA: metal upper right, flag upper left
SESA: metal upper left, flag upper right
WESA: metal upper right, flag upper left
If you observe any of these flagged birds, please report your sighting to
[log in to unmask] It would be very helpful if you could include the following
information in your report:
1) flag code
2) date, time, and location (coordinates if possible)
3) the individual's activity & flock size
A subset of LESA and WESA captured in my study received glue-on radio
transmitters. Please also note if the bird you spot is still wearing a radio.
