European Union Center of the University System of Georgia Grant Announcement

The European Union Center of the University System of Georgia (EUC)
recently announced a series of grant opportunities for research into the
European Union for the upcoming academic year. This competition is open to
all full-time faculty of the University System of Georgia and to University
System graduate students in the process of completing a thesis or

International Internships

AIESEC, a student organization at UGA, offers paid international
internships in Business and teaching English as a Second Language in 87
countries. They last from 8 weeks to 1 1/2 years and will begin no sooner
than this summer. There will be an informational session about the
internships Oct. 27: 7-8 p.m. in Sanford 209. Interviews to pick the
candidates will be done Nov. 17 and 18. For more information about AIESEC,

Scholarships for Study Abroad

IES
IES has announced an extension of its merit scholarship deadline. The IES
Merit Scholarship Program is open to students who will be studying on an
IES program in the Spring 2000 semester and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30
or above. The scholarships range from $500 to 50% off the IES program fee.
 Applications and application requirements can be found at
<http://www.iesabroad.org/info/finaid.html>. The new deadline is FRIDAY,
OCTOBER 15.

SACI
One full scholarship and a number of partial in-house scholarships are
awarded in two competitions held annually to study at Studio Art Centers
International (SACI). Founded in 1975, SACI is a full-time, U.S. university
level, studio art school based in Florence, Italy. SACI's scholarships are
based on a two-part criteria -- outstanding ability and demonstrated
financial need. Completed applications and supporting materials must be
submitted at SACI's New York office by March 31 for the academic year
beginning the following Fall or by October 15 for the Spring and/or late

Internships in International Education
with the Institute for International Education in Houston, Texas

The Junior Chamber of Commerce and Alice R. Pratt Internships were
established to promote international careers. They are full-time positions
with a stipend. Students should have completed their junior year by the
time they begin the internship. Rising and current seniors, recent
graduates, and graduate students may apply. Interns should have a
demonstrated interest in international affairs. The deadline for the Alice
R. Pratt Internship, which runs from Jan-May, 2000 is Oct. 29, 1999. the
deadline for the Junior Chamber of Commerce Internship, which runs from
June-Nov., 2000 is March 15, 2000. For the complete announcement, please

San Francisco State University has a part-time (.70) Study Abroad Advisor
position available. Salary: $1863.40 - $2,233.70 per month, application
deadline: 10/11/99. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree
in Social or Behavioral Sciences, experience living or studying abroad,
