18th Annual UGA Study, Work & Travel Abroad Fair

See how you can achieve a world-class education by attending the 18th
Annual UGA Study, Work & Travel Abroad Fair on Tuesday, October 1st from 10
a.m.- 3 p.m. in Georgia Hall of the Tate Student Center. There will be
exhibitors from about 90 organizations available to talk with students
about the international opportunities they offer. This is a great time to
explore your world of options!

Welcome Back World Traveler Series

Join the Office of International Education and the UGA Career Services
Center  in a workshop on how to market your international experience! This
workshop will be held in 215 B Barrow Hall on Thursday, October 10, 2002 at
3:30 p.m. This is a great time to figure out how to "sell" yourself and
your study abroad experience on your resume!! All returned study abroad
students and other students interested in these opportunities are invited
to attend.

Scholarships for Study Abroad

The Freeman-ASIA Program is currently accepting applications from Freshmen,
Sophomores and Juniors for the Spring 2003 semester. The primary goal of
the Freeman-ASIA Program is to increase the number of American
undergraduates who study in East and Southeast Asia, by providing students
with the information and financial assistance they will need.
Awardees will be expected to share their experiences with their home campus
to encourage study abroad by others, and to spread understanding of Asia in
their home communities. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2002.

CET is pleased to announce a new merit and need-based scholarship for CET's
spring 2003 History of Art in Siena program which covers the entire program
fee of $11,990. The Siena program offers classes in art history, Italian
language, politics, and literature. Other program highlights include two
Art History Traveling Seminars to Rome, Naples, Pompeii, Venice, and
Verona, and the opportunity to live in apartments with Italian roommates.
Interested students should apply to the CET Italy program by November 1,
2002.  Scholarship applications are due by December 1. For more information

Presentation on Study Abroad in Brazil: Tropical Ecology and Agriculture

Dr. Rosa Guedes, Professor of Ecology, Federal Rural University of
Pernambuco, Recife, PE, Brazil, and Coordinator for the UGA Agriculture and
Ecology Program in Brazil will be presenting: "Study Abroad in Brazil:
Better than in a text book!" on Thursday October 3 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in
the Ecology Seminar Room at the Institute of Ecology. She will present an
overview about Brazil, Pernambuco, and why Pernambuco is a perfect
situation for a course in Tropical Ecology and Agriculture. For more

Volunteer Abroad Opportunity

You are invited to join Orphanage Outreach for a unique and rewarding
experience volunteering at a Caribbean orphanage. Orphanage Outreach is a
non-profit organization working with orphanages in the Caribbean.  During
January, March, and the Summer of 2003, they have 1-4 week volunteer
positions available at orphanages in the Dominican Republic.  You will be
working with orphanage children and disadvantaged children from the
neighborhood around the orphanage. You may be teaching English, math,
and/or reading.  You might also coordinate recreational activities, and
work on basic facilities improvement projects like painting and
landscaping.  In addition to volunteering, each participant will be asked
to raise funds to pay their expenses and fund orphanage projects. For more
