Policy changes regarding study abroad/exchange academic transcripts

Effective immediately, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will no
longer accept transcripts in a language other than English. It is
imperative that all study abroad students request transcripts in English to
be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions upon conclusion of their
study abroad/exchange program. If the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
does not receive an English transcript, the transcript will be returned to
the student in order to have the transcript translated from the foreign
language to English. For students abroad fall semester 2002, spring
semester 2003 or academic year 2002-2003, the appropriate foreign language
department on campus can do this if they are willing to provide this
service. If not, the student will need to have the transcript translated by
a certified translator and can contact the Office of International
Education for a recommended translator.

Students studying abroad during summer 2003 and later must request
transcripts in English to be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
upon the conclusion of their study abroad program. If the Office of
Undergraduate Admissions does not receive an English transcript, the
transcript will be returned to the student in order to have the transcript
translated by a certified translator. If students are aware that their
transcript will not be in English, they should have the transcript sent
directly to them so that contact can be made with a certified translator.
The OIE can recommend a translator if needed. Beginning with students who
studied abroad in summer 2003, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will
no longer accept unofficial translations done by academic departments.

to be aware of this change in policy regarding transcripts so that there
are no misunderstandings when there are delays to posting student grades.
