Study Abroad Program Representative Visits

Mark your calendars for 2 upcoming visits by study abroad program

Mr. Steve Seaworth of the Institute for Study Abroad (IFSA) at Butler
University will be on campus on Wednesday, February 5th from 12:00-1:30 pm
in the Tate Center, room 143. IFSA has programs in a wide variety of
countries including: Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, England, Ireland,
Northern Ireland, Scotland, Australia and New Zealand. Swing by during this
time to learn more about opportunities for you!

Ms. Marlo Goldstein of AmeriSpan Unlimited will be on campus on Wednesday,
February 26th from 4:00-5:00 pm in Tate 143. AmeriSpan offers academic
summer and semester programs and volunteer/internships programs in Latin
America and Europe. There are also special programs for business, health
care, and education students. Come to the information session and learn more!


Seeking OIE Peer Advisors

Interested in helping to spread the word about study abroad to other UGA
students? Have you wondered about how to get involved with study abroad now
that you've returned from abroad? If you are interested in making a serious
commitment to study abroad at UGA and willing to volunteer some of your
time, plan to attend an informational meeting on Monday, February 3rd at
5:30 pm in 203 Barrow Hall. Contact Deborah Faucher at [log in to unmask] to
let her know if you will be there. If you are interested in being a peer
advisor, but unable to attend the meeting on the 3rd, please call 542-7903
to schedule a "peer advising training" appointment with Deborah Faucher.


SCOG Meeting

The next Student Council on Globalization meeting will be held on Thursday,
Jan. 30 at 5:15 p.m. in the Study Abroad Library in 203F Barrow Hall. There
will be a roundtable discussion on the cultural influence of the U.S. on
other countries and other countries' cultural influences on the U.S.
Everyone is welcome. Please come with your thoughts on this topic.


Scholarships for Study Abroad

Applications for the UNO Innsbruck scholarships for study in Innsbruck,
Austria this summer are now available. Applicants must have be a currently
enrolled, full- or part-time UGA undergraduate student who has attended UGA
for at least one year, be planning to attend the UNO Innsbruck Summer
School in Austria, have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrate
financial need and the integration of the study abroad experience into the
applicant's academic and career goals and agree to fulfill a work/service
requirement while abroad. More information and applications are available

available in the Study Abroad Library in 203F Barrow Hall. Please note that
all students attending the UNO Innsbruck program should submit a credit
approval form to the Office of International Education at least 3 weeks
prior to departure.

Applications for the SCOG scholarship for study abroad in Summer 2003, Fall
2003, AY 2003-2004 or Spring 2004  are now available. To be eligible, you
must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who has never studied before
for academic credit. You also must have a 3.6 or above cumulative GPA and a
strong record of extra-curricular or service activities. The scholarship
deadline is March 3, 2003. More information and applications are available

Study Abroad Library in 203F Barrow Hall.

CEA offers scholarships of $500 for students attending their programs in
Australia, Costa Rica, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico or Spain.
The summer scholarship is open to students who have applied to any CEA
summer program and have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Summer scholarship
applications are being accepted until February 15, 2003. For more

Changes to the Regents Scholarship for Study Abroad

Please note that the Board of Regents has amended their criteria for the
Regents Scholarship. Students with any prior international travel
experience are no longer eligible to apply. If you have questions about
this requirement, please contact a study abroad advisor (542-7903). The
application for this scholarship for programs beginning in Summer 2003,
Fall 2003 or AY 2003-2004 are due on Feb. 28, 2003.
