Attention Juniors and Seniors in High School and Parents:

Scholarships, Money, or Prizes...... For all participants.

Sound too good to be true?  It's not.

The "BUT"?  Is ONLY to pay the registration fee and sign up by March 15.

     The Georgia Junior Cattlemen's Association is again sponsoring a great
contest and scholarship opportunity.  The 5th Annual Beef Industry
Scholarship Challenge will be Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Abraham Baldwin
Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. High school juniors and seniors from any
state in NCBA's Region II (GA, AL, MS, LA, FL, NC, SC, and TN) are invited
to enter the competition. Ten teams will be accepted in the competition,
with preference given to Georgia residents.  Teams will consist of three
members and can be juniors and/or seniors in high school as of January 1,
the year of the competition.  Juniors may compete again as seniors unless
they are on the first place team. Team members do not need to be from the
same high school or county.

     The Beef Industry Scholarship Challenge is a unique contest that
focuses on the student's knowledge and skills in all areas of beef
production management.  Teams will work through 10 challenging stations in a
25-minute rotation.  The 10 stations include handling and health, nutrition,
marketing, seedstock merchandising, keep-cull replacement heifers, job
interview, beef industry issues, reproduction, beef management challenge,
and credit and finance.

     Scholarships are as follows:  1st place team, $3000; 2nd, $2100; 3rd,
$1500; 4th, $900; 5th, $750; 6th, $600; 7th, $450; 8th, $300; 9th, $200;
10th, $200.  The entry fee is $200 per team for Georgia residents and $250
per team for non-Georgia residents. Two meals and  mementos are provided to
all participants. All Georgia residents must be current members of GJCA.
The entry deadline is March 15, 2009. For more information and team entry
