Did You Know? The number of farmers' markets across the state has increased
about 600 percent between 2003 and 2008.
A recent study found that, for every $100 spent at a farmers' market, $62,
or 38 percent, is re-spent locally.

Want to Start or Improve Your Farmers' Market?
Georgia Organics and the UGA cooperative extension office of Fulton County
are hosting a workshop Nov. 20, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the North Fulton
Annex Building on 7741 Roswell Road on the red hot topic of starting up,
running, and improving farmers' markets.
Presenters will cover "Getting Started, Market Policies, Administration,
Marketing and Funding," "Regulations on Food Products," and "Food Stamps and
WIC (Women Infants and Children." The cost is $20 for Georgia Organics
members and UGA extension agents, and $25 for nonmembers.
