Dear Teachers,

*Reminder - 2009 State Meats Evaluation CDE.*

*Make sure NOT to have frocks, hairnets, hardhats and gloves on before the
contest starts!  They will need to be put on before going into the coolers.
Please take every precaution to keep them clean beforehand.  (no sitting on
them in the lobby, etc.)  This will help keep the Meat Science Lab in
accordance with Department of Agriculture regulations.*

*Who:*  FFA Members - Junior and Senior Teams

*What:*  The majority of the contest will be in coolers and freezers.  DRESS
WARMLY!

*All Students will need to bring:*  frock, hairnet, hardhat, (gloves
optional), 2 or more #2 pencils, non-memory calculator (seniors only) and a
clipboard.

*Where:*  Athens, Georgia - Animal and Dairy Science Building

*When:*  Saturday, December 5, 2009

Sign In - 8:00 - 8:30 AM

Contest Will Begin at 9:00 AM

*How:*  *Seniors -* Test from "Yellow Pages" Book, Meat Formulation Problem,
40 ID Cuts, 5 Placing Classes, Questions on Placing Classes and Beef Yield
and Quality Grading.

*Juniors -* 25 ID cuts, 5 placing classes, Questions on Placing Classes, 10
Question Test,

There are no elimination contests on the Region Level.  For more
information, look at CDE bulletins on the Georgia Ag. Education Website and
the National FFA Website.  For any questions, contact your Area Livestock
Teacher or myself.

*Why:*  To develop decision-making and leadership skills in FFA members
while broadening their horizons.  This is a great contest for any student to
help be become better consumers.

No Cellphones during contest!
