Subject: State Market Lamb and Goat Show updates

  To: Agents and Teachers

State Market Lamb and Market Goat shows are just around the corner, October
7-10. A complete schedule is at the end of this message.

*A few updates and reminders:*

**

1) Brent Jennings, North Carolina 4-H Youth Livestock Specialist, will be
the Market Lamb Judge. (Yes, the same guy who just judged the Gwinnett
County Fair Goat show.) Matt Kennedy who was supposed to judge canceled
last week due to a conflict.

2) This year we have:

378 Lambs

946 Goats

Goats will be housed in Sheep & Swine 1 (Upper Barn where Sheep were last
year).

Sheep will be housed in Sheep & Swine 2 (Lower Barn where Goats were last
year).

*ALL GOATS will be in the upper barn. ALL SHEEP will be in the lower barn.*

**

3) Please check your entries and make sure that the Lamb or Goat has a tag
in its ear that matches the tag number on the entry.

We make all corrections on-line. To check what you have entered, return to
the online registration site:

http://www.georgia4h.org/public/apps/jrnatreg

You can select Lamb report or goat report on the left side of the screen and
print a copy of your exhibitors and the animals they have entered. Some
agents and teachers find this helpful.

4)The rule book can be found at:

http://georgia4h.org/livestock/state_livestock_show.htm

Please check the Health regulations (pages 6-9). All sheep and goats (and
cattle and hogs ...) must have health papers. Ewes and Does must be tagged
with a "scrapie tag".

In addition, show rules for market lambs state:

"Georgia Bred and Born entries must include the scrapie tag number from the
birth flock. (Both ewes and wethers must have the scrapie number and tag. "
