The Georgia Young Farmers attended the National Young Farmer Education Association Institute in Monterey, California this past week. Georgia was represented well with a large group in attendance. Two highlights of the institute were that Allen Tyler of the Candler County Chapter was elected National NYFEA Secretary and Hope Paulk of the Irwin County Chapter was the National Spokesperson Award winner. GYFA Directors Tyler Harper and Carla Kelsoe served as official delegates for the institute.

Georgia members in attendance had the opportunity to tour farms, agribusinesses, and local attractions in the Salinas Valley area. In addition, they heard presenters speak on several current agricultural issues. Another great part was the opportunity for our members to interact and share ideas with farmers from across the nation.

The 2011 Institute will be December 7-10 in Kansas City, MO. More information will be available soon.
