Multifunctional Landscapes – Planting Beautiful Food (8:00AM – 5:00PM Workshop)
Get the most out of a landscape and learn how to design, plant, and take care of vegetables, blueberries, fruit trees, herbs and medicinal plants. Featuring Dr. Scott Nesmith, Bob Westerfield, Karen Rawlins, Dr. Will Hudson, Paul Pugliese, Dr. Bodie Pennisi, David Berle (MLA), and Sheryl Wells.  

 

Propagation and Grafting (9:00AM – 5:00PM Workshop)
Propagation and grafting is as much an art as a science. We will walk you through both sides of the equation as we discuss seed propagation, propagation by cuttings, and summer grafting. There will be hands on activities, so bring your gloves and ‘dirty shirt’. Featuring Dr. Matthew Chappell, Dr. Tim Smalley, Michael Martin, and David Freed.

New Plants Session (10:00AM – 3:30PM)
What are the latest trends in natives, trees, shrubs, and perennials? This all-star lineup will walk you through the latest and greatest plant material for the southeastern U.S. Featuring Dr. Jim Affolter, Ted Stevens, Dr. John Ruter, and Dr. Mike Dirr.

 

Pest Control Session (10:30AM – 12:30PM)
Learn more about cool season diseases and some new (and old) insect pest problems and solutions while earning 2 GA Pesticide License recertification credits. Featuring Dr. Jean Williams-Woodward and Dr. Kris Braman.

 

Irrigation Session (8:00AM – 10:00AM)
This session is intended for commercial growers and will cover the latest in irrigation technology and research – a can’t miss for growers interested in increasing irrigation efficiency and becoming more sustainable. Featuring Dr. Marc van Iersel and Dr. John Lea-Cox.

 

Asset Protection Session (8:00AM – 10:00AM)
What every green industry professional needs to know about lawsuit protection, tax reduction, and estate planning. Featuring Larry Oxenham from the National Asset Protection Foundation.

 

Floriculture Division Session (8:00AM – 4:00PM)
This track is intended for commercial floriculture growers and landscape professionals and will cover a wide range of topics directly related to annual and perennial trends, new plants and PGRs and pesticides (participants can earn 2 GA Pesticide License recertification credits). Featuring Dr. Paul Thomas, Rita Randolph, Jeff Dobbs, Dr. Allan Armitage, Tim Bell and Dr. Ron Oetting.

Center for Applied Nursery Research Open House (8:00AM – 11:00AM)
Researchers will discuss projects conducted during the 2010 growing season. Featuring Dr. John Ruter, Dr. Matthew Chappell, Sheryl Wells, and other researchers from across the southeast. Also come see poster presentations by UGA researchers that will be on display.

 

Landscape Session (9:00AM – 3:30PM)
Sponsored by the Metro Atlanta Landscape and Turfgrass Association, this session will cover a wide array of topics of interest to professional landscapers including using social media, proper pruning, sustainable business practices, and rainwater harvesting techniques. Featuring Rick Smith, Geri Laufer, Jenny Hardgrave, Gary Wade and Jim Harrington.
 
Multi-day Programs
Irrigation Association – Irrigation Contractor 2-Day Training Workshop and Exam.Coursework will take place Wednesday, January 26 and Thrusday, January 27 from 8:00AM – 5:00PM and the certification exam will be held Friday, Januart 28 from 8:00AM – 1:00PM.
