planned for February 15 at Macon State College in Macon, GA.
Attendees can choose from four educational tracks – basic/review info for
your crews, management for your business issues, green landscaping for
environmental practices, and new ideas for the latest trends. Participants
can also visit with landscape suppliers .
The early registration fee is only $40 increasing to $50 after Feb. 5. For

*How to Prune Your Landscape Like a Pro * *February 25, 2011 or March 4,
* This program will cover the A-Z of proper pruning techniques for all of
your ornamentals and will briefly cover pruning fruit trees. Equipment
selection and care will be addressed in detail. We will also cover the when,
where, and how’s to prune certain plants and different techniques for
creating a professional looking landscape. We will also spend some time
addressing pest prevention through proper pruning procedures. The class will
consist of both indoor lectures and outside hands-on demonstrations.
Pesticide credit in category 21 and 24 has been applied for. Please dress
warmly for the outside portion. Refreshments and lunch are included in
program. Registration required. Bob Westerfield and Bodie Pennisi, UGA
Horticulturists, will be the program speakers.

*Feb 26th Garden Symposium Macon
*Spring Garden Symposium sponsored by Waddell Barnes Botanical Gardens at
Macon State College, Saturday February 26th from 8:30am – 4:00pm.  Keynote
speaker, Ms Dorinda Dallmeyer, author of Bartram’s Living Legacy: The
Travels and Nature of the South, will discuss her book; Tom Patrick, Georgia
DNR Natural Heritage Program, will discuss the importance of the recent Oaky
Woods acquisition; Mike Sikes, Horticulturist and Marketing Coordinator for
McCorkle Nurseries, will tell the attendees, ‘What’s New from the Plant
World at McCorkle’; and a concurrent session featuring Hal Massie on
butterfly gardening, Dr Tim Smalley (UGA) on propagation, and Ian Campbell
(Bartlett) on ornamental pruning.  A continental breakfast and buffet lunch
