The purpose of the Forestry CDE is to stimulate student interest and to promote forestry instruction in the agricultural education curriculum, and to provide recognition for those who have demonstrated skills and competencies as a result of forestry instruction.
This event is open to students in grades 9-12 who are agricultural education students, and are paid members of a chartered FFA chapter. Each studentís name must appear on the chapterís FFA roster at least 10 days prior to competition above the chapter level.
Ninth grade students who have competed in any Area or State Natural Resources CDE will be eligible to compete in this event as long as they compete in a different practicum area.†No student shall compete in more than one CDE in a given day.†Chapters are limited to eleven (11) participants per team.† The top 3 three teams from each of the six Area CDEs may participate in the State Forestry CDE during the same year.† Students who have won other State CDEís during the current school year will not be able to participate in the State Forestry CDE Team Activity, but they will be allowed to compete in the Individual Activities.
The Area V Forestry CDE is scheduled for April 19th at Reed Bingham State Park in conjunction with the Regional Junior Natural Resources CDE. The event will begin at 4:30pm. No participants shall enter Reed Bingham State Park from April 14th till 3:30pm the day of competition. Park rangers have been notified and teams/individuals entering the park during that time will not be able to compete.
The Area VI Forestry CDE is scheduled for April 21st at Broadhurst. The event will begin at 4:30pm. No participants shall enter the Plum Creek facilities at any time with the exception of the event date. Plum Creek is private property. Any teams/individuals entering the Plum Creek site prior to April 21st will not be able to compete.
