The purpose of the Junior Natural Resources CDE is to promote natural resources instruction in the agricultural education curriculum, and to provide recognition for those who have demonstrated skills and competencies as a result of natural resources instruction.†This CDE is also intended to train future participants for the Environmental/Natural Resources CDE and the Forestry CDE.
This event is open to students in grades 6-9 who are agricultural education students, and are paid members of a chartered FFA chapter. Each studentís name must appear on the chapterís FFA roster at least 10 days prior to competition above the chapter level.
Ninth grade students who have competed in any Area or State Forestry CDE will be eligible to compete in this event as long as they compete in a different practicum area. No student shall compete in more than one CDE per day. Chapters are limited to ten (10) participants per chapter.† The top two Area Junior Natural Resources CDE winning teams may participate in the State Junior Natural Resources CDE during the same year.
The Regional Junior Natural Resources CDE†is scheduled for April 19th at Reed Bingham State Park in conjunction with the†Area V Forestry†CDE. The event will begin at 4:30pm. No participants shall enter Reed Bingham State Park from April 14th till 3:30pm the day of competition. Park rangers have been notified and teams/individuals entering the park during that time will not be able to compete.
