The Georgia FFA Alumni Association announces several council member positions open for election. The area directors, at-large directors and teacher directors will be elected during the Georgia FFA Alumni Convention on Sat., April 30. Nomination forms are due to the state office by Monday, April 25.
The council member positions open for election at the 2011 Georgia FFA Alumni Convention include: North Region Area 2 – Elected for a 3-year term. This office is currently held by Wallace Beggs of Habersham. Central Region Area 4 – Elected for a 3-year term. This office is currently held by Joy Beckum of Toombs County. . South Region Area 5 – Elected for a 3-year term. This office is currently held by Bobby Richardson of Miller County.
Wallace, Joy and Bobby have all served for a 3-year term and cannot seek relection per the Georgia FFA Alumni bylaws and constitution. FFA Alumni Members in each area will vote on their area director.
Directors At Large – Elections are held every year for one director at large to serve a 3-year term. Director 1: Elected for a 3-year term (replaces Cliff Tippens)
Director 2: Elected to fill remainder of Kevin Walker's term since he was elected president-elect in 2010. This person would only serve for one year until April 2012.
Teacher Directors – Elections are held every year for one teacher director to serve a 3-year term. There are no term limits for teacher directors.
Director 1: Elected for a one-year term (replaces John Barnes of Gilmer County since he retired)
Director 2: Elected for a 3-year term. This office is currently held by Jimmy Cargle of Tift County.
All FFA Alumni members present at convention can vote on the Directors at Large and Teacher Directors.
The Council encourages all FFA Alumni members to complete an application for office.
