1. Participate in ISL’s Spring Graduation Ceremony


Are you an international student, ISL student leader, or student who has contributed to the international community AND is about to graduate? If so, sign up for International Student Life’s Spring Graduation Ceremony!


The International Student Life Office cordially invites you to participate in International Student Life’s International Graduation Ceremony on May 12, 2010.


This ceremony is a free celebration of your accomplishments at the University of Georgia. The program is for all international students, International Student Life student leaders and their families and friends to honor our students’ achievements in an intimate atmosphere.


All graduates MUST contact ISL in order to participate.  Please complete the attached registration form and RETURN it to ISL via email to [log in to unmask]  or turn in at 210 Memorial Hall by 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2010.  



2. International Coffee Hour


Hosted by Dawgs H2O and Hands on Haiti


Meet others and learn about cultures from all over the world while sampling international cuisine and local coffee.

3. Apply to be a Summer Worker in ISL


ISL is looking for applicants for our summer worker position(s) to help us during the summer with orientation planning and other duties. Please see the attached position description for more informaiton. Applications are due Wednesday, April 27th, at 4:59 p.m.



4. Latino Trivia Night - this Thursday!


Do you know who Simon Bolivar is? Do you know what country has the largest Spanish speaking population? Do you know where the burrito came from?

If so, or if you're interested to find out, come join in this upcoming Thursday, April 21st at the MLC room 253 at 7pm as Student's for Latino/a Empowerment hosts Latino Trivia Night!!


Food and drinks will be provided and the winning team will be getting prizes!!


So take a break before you hunker down for finals and join us as we host Latino Trivia Night!!

5. Sabor Latino - This Saturday!


Join Students for Latin@ Empowerment  for some music, dancing, carne asada, futbol (soccer), and all of your favorite people in one place on Saturday April 21st at the Myers Quad from noon till 4pm. 

This day is SLE's way of saying thank you to all of otheir members and supporters for all of the hard work that they have put in to make the 2010-2011 academic year a successful one!


So come out and join in as they take a break before finals begin and bring your friends!

6. Filipino Night - this Saturday!


Come celebrate with the Filipino American Student Association as they showcase their culture!

7. Graduate Student Association - Run off Elections now through Wednesday!


The Graduate Student Association's run off presidential elections are being held now through tomorrow, April 20th, at 3:59 p.m. 


Graduate and professional students are eligible vote. Voters can long into Oasis, and click on "student elections" to vote. One of International Student Life's World Leaders, and president of the Chinese Student Union, Hongyu Zhang, is running for president, so please exercise your voting rights!



 8. Summer English Classes through UGA!


There are summer English classes available for credit to UGA students and as non-credit classes to qualified non-students.  For students who have assistantships, the usual tuition waiver applies.

The classes are designed primarily for graduate students, but undergraduates may also apply.  Permission of Department is required for all classes, please use the “contact us” link on the website to contact the director for permission to register.



9. Survey for Individuals of Kenyan Origin


A Ph.D. student at UGA is seeking individuals of Kenyan origin who are 18 and older to complete a survey as part of a dissertation project. Please see the attached description sheet for more information.
