October 7 - Ornamental Horticulture Research Field Day

UGA Horticulture Farm, Watkinsville, GA

 

The faculty and staff of the Department of Horticulture at The University of Georgia cordially invite you to attend their biennial Ornamental Horticulture Research Field Day at the UGA Horticulture Farm in Watkinsville, Georgia. Faculty will be stationed throughout the farm to discuss their research projects. This year, we will have 15 researchers presenting 12 research projects taking place at the farm. Topics will range from honey bee management to invasive species to organic vegetable productionto new ornamental cultivars (and MANY more). An ‘after the show’ in-depth tour of pumpkin, veggie and organic trials will dig deeper into this research program for those who want to stick around after 2:00PM. For more information.

 

October 21 - Landscape Primer: Job Bidding, Equipment, and Safety

This program will cover the selection, maintenance, and safety of common landscape equipment. We will also cover the proper method of job bidding by highlighting software that will enable you to more accurately estimate costs, therefore building more profit into each job. Current licensing laws, rules and regulations for the landscape industry will be discussed. Pesticide credit in category 21 and 24 has been applied for. Please dress warmly for the outside portion. Refreshments and lunch are included in program. Registration required. Sponsored by the University of Georgia Horticulture Department and the Center for Urban Agriculture.

Container combos and plant recommendations also will be included. Sustainable cultural practices to ensure healthy plants will be discussed.
