Teachers,

The 2012 FFA Day at the Georgia National Fair is scheduled for Tuesday, October 9. In addition to the mid-way rides, the Fair offers a variety of education opportunities for FFA members, including woodworking, horticulture and forestry project displays, Tree ID notebooks and livestock projects. Taking students to the Fair can be a great recruitment tool.

Five specific opportunities for your students on October 9, that you should be aware of include the 1) Middle School program, 2) the Forestry Tree ID competition, 3) the Floral Design competition, 4) Floriculture ID competition, and 5) Nursery/Landscape ID competition. Information about each of these opportunities will be send via email by the AgEd staff member in charge. Please be on the lookout for this information. Registration for each event should be handled through the appropriate staff member.

General Fair Attendance

For chapters who want to attend the Fair on FFA Day, but are not planning to participate in any of the activities above, you should register with the State FFA Office so that we can turn in an accurate head count to the Fair. Please email me with the following information by 5:00 p.m on Friday, September 19.

-chapter name

-total number of students attending

-total number of adults attending

Chapters not registering for any of the events who are attending the Fair can use the parking sign and entry form attached, and ride passes will be available to you for $16 each on site at the Fair.

Parking Signs

The Georgia National Fair asks that busses carrying FFA students to the Fair place a sign in their front window. A copy of the 2012 FFA Day at the Fair parking sign can be downloaded from the Georgia FFA website at www.georgiaffa.org.  Please print this sign on brightly colored paper (pink, yellow, etc…) and place in a visible place on/near the front window of each bus/vehicle transporting students to the Fair on October 9.

Fair Entry

In order for FFA chapters to have free entrance in to the Fair on October 9, you will need a copy of the 2012 FFA Day – Fair entry form. The entry form can be secured by registering for any of the events listed above, or by registering for the Fair with the state FFA office.

Be on the lookout for information about each FFA event being held at the 2012 FFA Day at the Georgia National Fair. If you have questions, feel free to let me know.
