Good afternoon.†† I have been asked to inform you that there are two workshop opportunities coming up here at FVSU for which teachers or young farmers may have an interest.

1)††††† †Tanning (hides, skins, pelts) workshop.† 2.5 days beginning early afternoon on Tuesday (May 7) with completion after full day on Thursday (May 9).† This workshop will have a substantial hands-on component involving selecting and preparing hides, skins or pelts (goats and sheep)as well as the various chemical treatments. †Each participant will receive a kit of materials needed for the preparation of leather or a finished pelt.† †No registration fee is charged but participants will need to purchase the materials kit for $32.40.†† Participants can make a reservation by contacting Ms. LaTonya Hooks at 478-825-6320 in the Deanís Office.†

2)††††† A conference on Internal parasite research and outreach activities, along with a hands- work shop will† be held at FVSU on May 20-22.† Participants can attend the tw0-day conference (May 20-21) or the one-day Train-the Trainer workshop for Integrated Parasite Management (May 22).† Registration fees are involved as explained on the 2013 International Conference information page at www.acsrpc.org (American Consortium for Small Ruminant Parasite Control).† Any high school or young farmer teachers who want the credentials for training and issuing FAMACHA eye charts need to go through the Training the Trainer workshop unless they have already been trained by us.† Event registration forms are available at the Consortium website.†
