The Georgia Recycling Coalition is now
accepting applications for its 2012 Spirit of Green School Recycling
Grant Awards. This program recognizes excellence in recycling and waste
reduction in Georgia. Three $500 grants will be awarded to
the top elementary, middle, and high schools. Georgia public and
private schools are eligible to apply.

Project Learning Tree GreenWorks! Grants

Project
Learning Tree (PLT) GreenWorks! Grants in amounts up to $1,000
are available. Applicants must have attended a PLT
workshop. Proposed projects must:
§ Involve
service-learning
§ Exemplify
student voice
§ Involve at
least one community partner
§ Secure at
least 50% matched funds (in-kind acceptable)
§ Be completed
in one year

Target will be awarding more than 5,000 grants
of $700 each to schools for the upcoming school year. Teachers
can use grants to fund school field trips to connect their
curricula to out-of-school experiences, including trips to art
museums, cultural events, civic experiences and environmental
sites.
Grants will be awarded to educators, teachers, principals,
para-professionals and/or classified staff employed by an
accredited K-12 public, private or charter school in the U.S.
that maintains a 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1) tax-exempt status.

Green Thumb Challenge $1,000 Award

It's that time of year again! GEF and Gardener’s
Supply Company have teamed up on an exciting funding opportunity
for established youth garden projects nationwide! The organizations
are calling on schools and youth groups to submit chronicles of
their garden projects in a race to win a $1,000 prize. The award is
designed to support the continued sustainability of an exceptional
youth garden program that has demonstrated success, and has
impacted the lives of kids and their community.

Herb Society of America $5,000 Educator Grants

A grant opportunity for educators
to deliver learning experiences to the public.
The Herb Society of America's mission is to
promote the knowledge, use and delight of herbs through
educational programs, research, and sharing the experience of
its members with the community. The Grant for Educators
challenges individuals, groups or small businesses to develop
and deliver learning experiences to the public. Each year, the
Grant Committee anticipates funding one or two grants for a
total of $5,000.
The grant rewards innovative projects that
enhance herbal education in school systems, in communities, or
in any public forum (electronic or person-to-person). It
requires learning goals and a mechanism to measure the
educational outcomes.
Applications are requested from educators
(formal or informal teachers), persons engaged/employed in
botanical or horticultural activities, museum directors,
botanical / garden writers, small herbal business owners.
Proposals from students will not be accepted.

The Donald Samull Classroom Herb Garden

A grant opportunity to
work with elementary and early middle grades start a small
garden.
The Herb Society of
America (HSA) is accepting applications for its Donald
Samull Classroom Herb Garden Grant. Public or private school
teachers in grades 3-6 with a minimum class size of 15
students are eligible to apply.
The Herb Society of
America will award four (4) schools each year indoor window
sill herb gardens. The classrooms selected will receive
three (3) windowsill herb garden kits including pots,
soil, seeds and educational materials to use in the
classroom. The Herb Society of America will provide the
educational materials.
The Herb Society of
America will select five (5) schools/classrooms to receive
$200 "Seed Money" to establish an outdoor herb
garden. The funds may be used for supplies such as soil,
plant trays, containers, child or youth sized tools, etc.
The school may need to seek additional funding and support
from other sources. The Herb Society of America will
provide the educational materials and herb seeds.

to help young people just like YOU!
These grants
can be used towards project ideas and programs that are just getting started,
or to jump-start your program and realize your ideas for the first time.
These grants can also be used towards projects that are already developed and
sustainable, towards the next steps of your project and organization to help
you as you look to expand your project and grow your impact.
