1. International Coffee Hour – This Friday

International Coffee Hour at the University of Georgia is a weekly program that brings UGA students, faculty, staff, and community members together over coffee and international cuisine. Meet others and learn about cultures from all over the world.

2. International Graduation Ceremony – Register today!

 

The International Graduation Ceremony & Reception is for international students, ISL student leaders, University students who contributed to the global community, as well as their families and friends. The purpose is to celebrate their outstanding achievements here at the University in a way that specifically honors their dedication to an internationalized UGA!

 

Where: Richard B. Russell Special Collections Library – Room 271

When: Thursday, May 8th at 3:00 pm

3. Saeeda Peermahomed Award -- Seeking International Student Nominations

 

Saeeda Peermahomed Award Announcement

 

International Student Life and the Peermahomed Selection Committee at The University of Georgia are pleased to solicit nominations from the UGA community for the 2014 Saeeda Peermahomed Award.

 

The Saeeda Peermahomed Award is made possible by the Peermahomed Family and is given in memory of Saeeda Peermahomed. Saeeda was a University of Georgia student from India who was studying to obtain a Masters degree in Journalism when she was killed in a tragic automobile accident in North Georgia in 1979. This award is given in Saeeda’s memory to honor the goals of inter-cultural exchange for which she stood.

 

This annual award is given to an international student in recognition of outstanding scholarship, leadership and service in the field of international education. Recipients should be undergraduate or graduate international students at the University of Georgia and should have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

 

Please see the attached award announcement for more details. Award applications are due to the International Student Life Office (210 Memorial Hall) on Friday, April 18 at 5:00 p.m. Questions can be sent to the ISL Office at [log in to unmask].


4.  ISL Summer Worker Application is now available!

Each summer, ISL hires summer workers to assist ISL staff with the planning, administration, and implementation of various projects including the fall international student orientation program.  ISL is now accepting applications for these summer positions.  Detailed information about the position, qualifications, requirements, etc. is attached to this listserv announcement.

The ISL student worker(s) must be available during the months of May, June and July 2014. 

Preference will be given to applicants who submit their application materials to the ISL Office (210 Memorial Hall) by Monday, April 21, 2014, 4:59 pm.

6. Non-Clinical Behavioral Health Internship

 

Accepting Applications for

Summer 2014 and

Fall 2014 & Spring 2015

 

 

AK Counseling & Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking self-motivated, creative students with strong social skills for our Non-Clinical Behavioral Health Intern position. This internship would be an excellent opportunity for a student majoring in psychology, social work, child and family development, public health, and other mental health-related fields. It is anticipated that the intern will have the opportunity to learn about various aspects of psycho-educational programming, and the integration of science and practice.

 

Responsibilities include: gathering and organizing research on psychologically-related matters, being involved in the creation and design of brochures and public education materials, assist with social media, and other office duties.

 

We are seeking individuals with the following skills: research using various databases, informational/creative writing, knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to interact with the public via telephone and in-person. Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are highly desired.
