Teachers,

The Junior Prepared Public Speaking CDE is fast approaching. The speaking
events such as this one are foundational to developing students' potential
for "premier leadership". I hope all of you will have participants in our
sub-area leadership events. As a reminder, all manuscripts for participants
Jr. Prepared Public Speaking are *due in the region office on or before
January 20*. If you need any assistance in preparing for this event, please
let me know. Please remember that manuscripts need to be the student's
original work and be in proper APA format. If you need help with APA
formatting, you can find several good online guides by doing a Google
search for "APA format help". Manuscripts can be submitted as hard copies
or can be emailed to:

If you submit electronically, refer to this section of the "electronic
submission guideline" (note that you can submit electronically for
manuscript judging but must bring hard copies to competition:

*Speech Manuscripts*
*• Can be submitted for manuscript judging.*
*• Three hard copies must be brought to the contest for judges.*
*• Each manuscript submitted must be done using a separate email*

*Subject line should read: Chapter Name-Jr or Sr. Manuscript-Student Name*

*File name should be as follows:**

Please keep in mind that January 20 is the date for manuscript submissions.
The sub-area speaking events will be held as follows:

*Randolph-Clay Events--Monday, January 26.* This includes the following
counties: Calhoun, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Lee, Miller,Mitchell,
Randolph-Clay, Seminole, Terrell, and Webster

*Tift County Events--Monday, January 26*. This includes the following
counties: Ben Hill, Brooks, Colquitt, Crisp, Irwin, Sumter, Thomas, Tift,
Turner, Wilcox, and Worth

*Wayne County Events--Tuesday, January 27.* This includes the following
counties: Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, Jeff Davis,
Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Telfair, and Wayne

*Echols County Events--Tuesday, January 27.* This includes the following
counties: Atkinson, Berrien, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Echols, Lanier, Lowndes,
and Ware

These sub-area events will also include Sr. Prepared, Extemporaneous
Speaking, and Creed Speaking. You will receive information regarding those
specific events from the region staff in charge of those events.

Registration for all events will be at 4:00 PM with events starting
promptly at 4:30.
