2015 Spring Advising: Walk-in Hours and Weekly Options Abroad Sessions (top)

We offer walk-in advising and “Options Abroad” sessions for students interested in study abroad. For individual attention, we recommend visiting a peer advisor during walk-in hours for quick questions. For a general overview of study abroad, we recommend attending one of our weekly Options Abroad sessions.
Step 1: Attend a weekly Options Abroad Session for general information on study abroad.
Step 2: If you have questions or need to consult an advisor

Submit an Article to Kaleidoscope International Journal (top)
Kaleidoscope is a student-run international journal published at Boston College, which is currently seeking submissions. The journal provides an excellent opportunity for both undergraduate and graduate students to publish articles, from research conducted abroad or at home. The journal is managed entirely by BC students. The deadline for the Spring 2015 issue is January 12th. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.

NanoJapan: International Research Experience for Undergraduates Program (top)
Rice University is now accepting applications for the 2015 NanoJapan: International Research Experience for Undergraduates program. Generously supported by an NSF Partnerships for International Research & Education (NSF-PIRE) grant, this summer program seeks to cultivate interest in nanoscience among young U.S. undergraduate students, especially those from underrepresented groups, and encourages such students to pursue graduate study and academic research in related fields. The program has been nationally recognized by the National Academy of Engineering and the Institute of International Education's Heiskell Award as a model for the expansion of international opportunities for STEM students.

Application Deadline: January 23rd, 2015

DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship for Study Abroad in Germany (top)
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) invites highly qualified undergraduate students to apply for scholarships funding study, senior thesis research and/or internships in Germany. The goal of this program is to support study abroad in Germany and at German universities. Preference will be given to students whose projects or programs are based at and organized by a German university. Scholarships are available either as part of an organized study abroad program or as part of an individual, student-designed study abroad semester or year.

The deadline for applications is January 31, 2015 (postmark date).

Study Abroad in Stellenbosch, South Africa (top)
The UGA Center for the Study of Global Issues (Globis) is accepting applications for the 2015 study-abroad program in Stellenbosch, South Africa.  This Maymester program, which is run by faculty in the International Affairs and Sociology departments, provides a unique opportunity to combine classroom and service learning in Stellenbosch (a college town just outside Cape Town) with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including a five-day safari trip to Zimbabwe and Botswana.  Students will receive six hours of International Affairs or Sociology credit.  Application will be accepted until February 1, 2015. UK Summer Institute Applications Are Now Open (top)
The US-UK Fulbright Commission applications are open for the UK Summer Institute Award Programmes for US Undergraduates.  Each Programme varies in duration, from three to six weeks, and offers students a fantastic opportunity to be immersed in the study of British academics and culture. Students will take part in cultural events, research, collaboration, and presentation at an esteemed British University.

Deadlines for 2015 are:  February 26th or March 5th, 2015 – depending on the Institute.
