Will each of you please post this information to the list serve as well as
let the state YF officer board know as well. He will truly be missed!

 Ronald (Ronnie) Julian Griffis, 60, died July 16, 2015, at his home in
Screven after an extended battle with cancer.

 Ronnie was born in Wayne County on April, 2 1955 to parents Julian and
Lizzie Blocker Griffis. He was a member of Oquinn Baptist Church and had
lived in Screven for most of his life where he was a lifelong farmer and
agriculturist. Ronnie retired from Rayonier after 25 years of service.

During his lifetime Ronnie truly loved farming and raising cattle. He and
his wife Bonnie along with their daughter and son-in-law owned and operated
Boggy Creek Farms located at Lake Grace in Screven. Their operation focused
on producing embryo transfer calves for Angus and Charolaise breeders
across the southeastern United States. He was active in multiple
agricultural organizations including Wayne County Young Farmers, Wayne
County Livestock Association, Georgia Cattleman Association and an avid
supporter of all 4-H and FFA programs. He served in leadership roles for
all of these organizations on both the local and state levels. Ronnie was
the 2013 Wayne County Chamber of Commerce “Excellence in Agriculture” award
recipient. His passion for life, family, and friends was evident in his
daily walk.

He was preceded in death by his parents Julian and Lizzie Blocker Griffis,
a son Ronald (R.J.) Julian Griffis II, and a sister Linda Gail Griffis.

Survivors include his wife of forty years, Bonnie Hutto Griffis; a daughter
and son-in-law Kristy and Robert Arnold; two grandchildren Kayle and Karson
Arnold; a sister and brother-in-law, Marlee and Ivey Jones all of Screven
and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015
at Howard & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Howard &
Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Greenlee and Dr. Ron Wilcox
officiating. Musical selections will be by Roger Anderson.

Interment will follow in O’Quinn Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Randy Franks, Terry Duncan, Joe B. Harris,
Herman Lewis Sr., Billy Burch, and Billy Wayne Sellers. Honorary
Pallbearers include Easop Fuller, Buddy Fortner, Hubert Howard, and all
members of the Wayne County Young Farmers and Wayne County Livestock
Association, as well as Stanley Todd and Hospice of South Georgia.
