On behalf of International Student Life, I want to welcome you to the new school year here at UGA. This summer has kept our office busy with welcoming a new ISL staff, planning and executing a record-setting International Student Orientation program and getting ready to provide amazing programs and events for the upcoming year.

Also, over the summer, the ISL office and Memorial Hall have seen some fantastic improvements including our new complete set of world flags that now hang from the ISL ceiling, new furniture in the Tribal Lounge, and a brand new ballroom that will serve as our home for Coffee Hours moving forward. I encourage you to stop by the office and check out these updates!

I hope that you all have had a restful summer and are ready to do great things this year as you look to internationalize you UGA experience. Please know that ISL is here as a resource for you during your UGA career and we look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events!

International Student Orientation 2015

International Student Life wrapped up a very successful International Student Orientation (ISO) program this month, welcoming over 340 international students to UGA and Athens, GA. With over 40 countries represented, this year's program was one of the largest on record.

Students participated in a variety of activities and sessions that helped prepare them academically and socially for their transition to the UGA campus.

Below are some highlights of this year's program:

World Leader Families - This year, ISL introduced a new format for ISO that focused on combining large group sessions with multiple small group break-out sessions. This allowed our participants to gain valuable information from guest speakers and campus resources and then come together in small groups (World Leader Families) to discuss topics on a deeper level. In addition to break-out sessions, students ate most of their meals in their World Leader Families which helped build a sense of community amongst one another.

President Jere Morehead - We were honored to be joined by UGA President, Jere Morehead during orientation. President Morehead joined ISO for dinner on the first evening and welcomed the international students to UGA. His message was a reaffirming welcome to the students and he left us all feeling proud to be members of the UGA community.

Sanford Stadium Tour - For the second year in a row, ISO has included a private tour of Sanford Stadium for our international student orientation participants. This is always a highlight for the students (and staff) as they get a behind the scenes look at the iconic Sanford Stadium. To see the students "call the dogs" at Sanford, please visit our Facebook page.<>

Thank you to all those who supported us this year with ISO, we look forward to next year's program!
