Ag Teachers, If you have a student who is considering submitting a State Star application this year, please read this information carefully. State Star batteries, along with State Degree applications, are due to your Region office on Tuesday, March 1. To insure that each student applies in the correct category, please review the descriptions below. If you have questions, call on your Region staff or the State FFA Office. Star Farmer Any FFA member receiving the state FFA degree in a given year with a production-based entrepreneurship SAE is eligible to apply for the Star in Farmer. This includes production of animals, crops, etc... Star in Agribusiness Any FFA member receiving the state FFA degree in a given year with an Entrepreneurship SAE in a non-production SAE is eligible to apply for the Star in Agribusiness. (If the student has any production (i.e. crops or animals) the student should apply in the Star Farmer category). The Agribusiness category is designed for students who own an operation that is not production based. For example: custom hay baling business, lawn care business, feed store, etc... Star in Agricultural Placement Any FFA member receiving the state FFA degree in a given year with a Placement SAE is eligible to apply for the Star in Agricultural Placement. Only Placement (non-ownership) hours/experiences are to be included in this application. Star in Agriscience Any FFA member receiving the state FFA degree in a given year with an Agriscience research-based SAE is eligible to apply for the Star in Agriscience. Thank you, and best wishes to your Star candidates.
