Ag Teachers,

If you have FFA members looking for scholarship money, please read this information carefully!

I hope that your week is going well. The holidays are nearly here, and I know you’re busy finishing the semester. In the long list of important things to keep in mind, please add the information below about National FFA Scholarships. Please make sure that all of your current 12th grade FFA members (class of 2017) and any recent graduates (class of 2016) are aware of these opportunities. The information below will help you and your students complete the National FFA Scholarship process. FFA members will not only need to be on the FFA roster, but they will need an active MyFFA account to apply for scholarships. The scholarship application process is online and will close at 5:00 p.m. on February 1.

If you have questions, let me know or reach out to Mrs. Teri Buchholtz at National FFA.

Subject: 2017 National FFA Scholarship Application is Live!
Importance: High

Dear State FFA Staff:

The 2017 Scholarship Application is live!

Students access the application through FFA.org. FFA members create FFA.org accounts using an Invite code or FFA ID. (Invite codes are obtained from their FFA advisors.) Students with existing FFA.org accounts sign in using those credentials.

Advisors log into FFA.org to renew rosters and issue Invite codes. Advisors who do not have an FFA.org login should obtain one from state staff. FFA members must be renewed and active on the chapter roster. Invite codes appear by member names on the active roster. Invitations can be generated individually or by using the “Bulk Action” option.

Reminder: Under no circumstances should FFA members create accounts in FFA.org without an Invite code or FFA ID. Accounts created without an Invite Code or FFA ID (Community account) are for non-member use only and send students to the non-member application. FFA members submitting a “non-member” application are not eligible for scholarships with membership criteria. (Submitting more than one application is grounds for disqualification.)

Membership status is checked before judging begins. Only students with a current, active membership status will be eligible to compete for scholarships. The deadline to ensure active membership is March 1, 2017. National FFA will not contact states during judging to confirm status.

Two sponsors have added eligibility requirements.  America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders scholarships (Monsanto Fund) require applicants to obtain two electronic farmer endorsements. Details at FFA.org/scholarships (click the America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders logo) or at GrowAgLeaders.com.

Built Ford Tough scholarships require applicants to visit a participating dealer and obtain an endorsement on the 2017 Signature Page.

DEADLINES: The 2017 scholarship application must be submitted prior to 5 p.m. EST Feb. 1, 2017.

Signature Pages must be mailed postmarked no later than Feb. 8, 2017.
