If you are planning to (or are interested in) having a Marketing Plan CDE team this year, please read this message!
The state Marketing Plan CDE will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Ft. Valley State University. Again this year, the Marketing Plan is a straight to state CDE, meaning there are no Area qualifiers. Please review these details closely, and let me know if you have questions.
If you plan to have a team participate in the Marketing Plan CDE, it is expected that you register through the online registration process in the Georgia AgEd website. The link to register for the Marketing Plan state CDE will close on January 16, 2017. Please be sure to register your team no later than January 16.
Date for submitting written plan
Each team’s written Marketing Plan is due Thursday, January 19. The guidelines for the composition of the Marketing Plan are outlined in the attached CDE guidelines. Any Marketing Plan received after January 19 will receive a point deduction. Written Marketing Plans should be submitted as a PDF document and submitted via email at [log in to unmask].
The written guidelines (rules, procedures, etc…) are attached to this email. Please review the document closely and call Ben Lastly if you have questions. Please keep in mind that this CDE is centered around your team selecting an agricultural product (not just a company) and adding value to the product. Your team should assume the role of a marketing firm who is hired by a company to help market a product in their line. During the presentation, your team is to play the role of the marketing firm pitching their idea to market the product to the parent company.
The CDE consists of a written Marketing Plan (submitted by Jan. 19) and a presentation explaining the Marketing Plan to a set of judges (Feb. 4). At the state CDE we will have presentation rooms running simultaneously, with half of the teams presenting in one room, and the other half presenting in the other room. The top two teams from each room will present again in the final 4 round. The specific details of the presentation (time allowed, what to include, etc…) are included in the CDE guidelines attached. Please review them carefully with your students so that you know how to get all possible presentation points.
If you have any questions, please call Ben Lastly at (706) 410-4604. Please remember that online registration is due by January 16, and Marketing Plans are due via email (PDF format) by January 19.
