Good morning Advisors with students preparing for the Georgia FFA Agriscience Fair!
Please read carefully over the updates below... we have several big changes for 2017... new divisions, new required report template (different ones for different divisions) and more... please contact myself or Melissa Riley with any questions or concerns.
Important Dates & Deadlines for the Georgia FFA Agriscience Fair:
§ All deadlines are firm – no exceptions!
Ø April 3: Written Reports & Applications due in respective Agricultural Education Region Office (must be completed online, printed & signed).
Ø April 6-7: Agriscience Report Judging
Ø April 27: Agriscience Fair Set up, Monument Room, Macon Coliseum, 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Ø April 28: Agriscience Fair interviews, Monument Room, Macon Coliseum, 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (interview times will be assigned)
Ø April 29: Agriscience Fair State winners recognized in 7th General Session, 11:00 a.m.
§ In the handbook on page 7 it states, “Once a student places in the top three of a division and category, he/she can no longer compete in that division and category regardless of the research project.” Because of the division changes from 2016 to 2017, this rule will not be enforced in 2017 and we will resume checking in 2018.
§ Tricky topics: some topics are difficult to determine proper category placement. If a project is in question, please email the abstract to [log in to unmask] or[log in to unmask] and request a category determination.
§ See Display Requirements in the handbook to review size and other important details.
Ø The student may have a display board, log book and up to five copies of the written report as part of the display. The log book and copies of the written report are optional. No additional props, handouts or electronic devices will be permitted.
§ Application reminders:
Ø In 2017 the application is housed in the Application Manager on FFA.org. I would strongly encourage advisors to review the Application and Written Report Directions. There are some really critical tips in that document that will be vital to those who have not used the online application or the templates before.
Ø The National FFA report templates are required for all written reports and are available on our website.
Ø The written reports templates have been updated. Please be sure your students use the appropriate report template for their division.
Ø Once the application is complete and written report is uploaded, the advisor/student will need to export this file. This will be a PDF document. If after exporting there needs to be an adjustment, the student can log back in, make the change, and export again. A complete submission includes the printed application and written report with appropriate signatures in the Region Office by April 3rd.
