Can you post this to the list serv?

I don’t know how many people are affiliated with the NAAE Communities of Practice and received this notification already,  but I thought that this was worth sharing on the listserv.

Bayer's Bee Care program recently announced three great opportunities for anyone who has been involved in protecting and promoting bee pollinators as well as for those interested in establishing pollinator forage. Any one of these could fit one of your students or your program.

Youth Bee Care Community Leadership Award - recognizes a young beekeeper under 18 years old with a $1,000 prize to support honey bee-focused initiatives in his or her school or community. This could include researching ways to improve honey bee health, establishing an apiary on his or her school campus or amplifying existing beekeeping efforts.

Bee Care Community Leadership Award - recognizes a partnership between a beekeeper and a grower, researcher, or other stakeholder (could be school), whose collaboration protects pollinators and benefits their community. The award provides the winning partners a $5,000 prize to continue their valuable collaborative work with bees in the community.

The deadline for both these awards is May 19, 2017. Visit https://www.cropscience.bayer.us/news/press-releases/2017/03142017-bayer-extends-annual-award-eligibility-to-beekeeping-…  for complete details, and Community Leadership Award Application and Rules | Bayer Bee Health  for the application and rules for both the Youth and Community Leadership awards

Feed a Bee Pollinator Forage Initiative - this program is requesting forage initiative proposals that will promote pollinator health and help provide a tangible solution to the current lack of forage. Organizations including, but not limited to nonprofits, growers (individual and trade groups) , beekeepers (individual and associations), businesses, schools, clubs, gardening groups, government agencies, etc. are encouraged to submit a proposal. The proposals must include establishment or restoration of pollinator forage and an educational component to be considered for funding. Funding will be distributed in grants of $1,000, $2,500 or $5,000. Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis. Proposals submitted before March 31, 2017 will be considered for initiatives and events to occur July-September 2017.

A news release with complete details about the Feed a Bee Pollinator Forage Initiative is attached below, and visit Impact – FeedABee  for more information about how to submit a proposal. Please look at both pieces before moving forward.
