On March 23 & 24, 2018 ABAC will be hosting the 61st Forestry Conclave.

If you and your students do not qualify for the State FFA CDE Day - (North) on the University of Georgia Campus, Athens, I hope you will make plans to travel to ABAC.  This will be a great opportunity for your students to visit campus  and learn about the Forestry Program at ABAC.

On Friday March 23, ABAC & their Student Society of American Foresters Invite you to be a part of the Conclave by being a spectator and using it as an opportunity to visit the campus.

Use the link below to register you and your school for the complimentary lunch, and plan your FFA Spectator Day at Conclave at ABAC.

You can view the website for updates to the schedule of events. You may also choose to attend on Saturday if interested in the schedule of events for that day. If you choose to do so, you should let ABAC know of your plans for a visit on Saturday instead of Friday.

The complimentary lunch is for Friday as it has been named FFA Spectator Day. You should have received information about this event from ABAC late in the fall because it accompanied the ABAC FFA Poster.

The Forestry Conclave, is a competitive event started by forestry students for forestry students. Conclave events are similar, but unlike our Forestry Field Day Events; college students from southern forestry schools compete in both physical and technical events that include: archeryaxe throwingpole climbing, log rolling, bow sawing, log birling, cross-cut saw, dendrologytimber volume estimation, photogrammetrywood identification, and others.

Also at the conclave, Stihl Timbersports will host the Southern Collegiate Qualifier for their Lumberjack Competition Series. Disciplines include Hot Saw, Single Buck, Springboard Chop, Standing Block Chop, Stock Saw and Underhand Chop.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Darby Sewell at  [log in to unmask] , Acting Dean for the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
