Mr. Mitchell,

Please send the following email out to the North Region teachers at your
earliest convenience.

Dear North Region teachers,

Please consider participating in the following research study titled "An
Examination of Teacher Written Learning Objectives and Student Assessments"
conducted by Dr. Eric Rubenstein and myself.

I am undergraduate student Emily Potter under the direction of Professor
Dr. Eric Rubenstein in the Department of Agriculture, Leadership, Education
and Communication (ALEC) at The University of Georgia. I invite you to
participate in a research study entitled An Examination of Teacher Written
Learning Objectives and Student Assessments. The purpose of this study is
to determine how effectively student assessments correlate with teacher
written objectives in agricultural education. You must be an agriculture
educator in a Georgia FFA North Region middle school, high school, of Young
Farmer program to participate.

Your participation will involve two parts, 1) taking an online survey via
Qualtrics and should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. The
questions are formatted as multiple choice and short answer questions. 2)
Submitting a completed unit plan of your choice via email or hand delivery.
The unit plan you submit can be from any 6-12 Georgia agriculture course,
and should include unit objectives or essential questions, a unit outline
of lesson activities, and a copy of the unit assessment. Your involvement
in the study is voluntary, and you may choose not to participate or to stop
at any time without penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise
entitled. If you decide to stop or withdraw from the study, the data
collected from or about you up to the point of your withdrawal will be kept
as part of the study and may continue to be analyzed. At the end of the
study, all participants will receive a copy of the final research paper.

The information you provide in this research will be confidential and made
anonymous, and all efforts will be made to keep your answers
confidential. Internet
communications are insecure and there is a limit to the confidentiality
that can be guaranteed due to the technology itself. However, once the
researcher receives the materials, standard confidentiality procedures will
be employed due to using an online survey.

The results of the research study may be published, but your name or any
identifying information will not be used. Your name and school name will be
removed from all data, and your information will only be identifiable by
the name of your unit. In fact, the published results will be presented in
summary form only.

The findings from this project may provide information on the correlation
between written objectives and the types of assessments given. Furthermore,
the research conducted will be able to assist agriculture educators in
guaranteeing they are effectively assessing their students in a way that
both meets their objectives, and is similar to the way material was taught.
There are no known risks or discomforts associated with this research

If you have any questions about this research project, please feel free to
contact me at [log in to unmask] or Dr. Eric Rubenstein at
[log in to unmask] Questions or concerns about your rights as a research
participant should be directed to The Chairperson, University of Georgia
Institutional Review Board,; telephone (706) 542-3199; email address
