*The Nursery Landscape Production and Operations Workshop will take place
Thursday, June 25th and Friday, June 26th in Thomson, GA. *
We will visit two of the largest nursery operations in our state - McCorkle
Nursery and Dudley Nursery.

This two day workshop will over take you on tours of both of these
facilities as well as instruction on plant propagation, plant ID, and how
to start your own school nursery operation.

There are 30 spots open for this workshop and they will fill up quick.  If
you are interested, you must register through the CTAERN site.

9:00 – 9:15 – Welcome/ Introductions – Thomson High School

9:15 – 9:45– Having a school nursery area/ thing to think about

9:45 – 10:00 – load school bus and travel to McCorkle Nursery

10:00 – 10:30 – Welcome at McCorkle Nursery

10:30 – 11:00 – Tour of facility by bus

11:00 – 12:00 – working lunch at McCorkles / Talking with the Experts

12:00 – 1:30 – Propagation Demonstration

1:30 – 2:45 – Plant Identification – tips and tricks to help you and your
students

2:45 – 4:45 – UGA Research Center – purpose and mission of the organization

4:45 – 5:00 – Travel back to Thomson High / release for the day



*Day 2 –  Friday, June 26, 2020*

8:00 - 8:45AM – Check In & Recap from Yesterday, Propagation Activity –
Thomson High Ag Classroom

8:45-9:00 – Load School bus to Dudley Nursery

9:00  – 11:45 – Welcome at Dudley Nursery & Tour - plant potting
demonstration, plant spacing robot demonstration, and others

11:45 – 12:00 – travel back to Thomson High School

12:00 – 1:00 – lunch on your own

1:00 – 4:00 – How to start a school nursery area

·         Where to locate?

·         Weed fabric and Shade Cloth to use

·         Outdoor Irrigation / Mist Propagation in Greenhouse

·         Where to get plants/ what to grow?

·         Where to order supplies/ what to order?

·         How to market? Increases spring/ fall plant sales
