Good afternoon, We are currently looking for someone to serve as the Area 1 GVATA Director and to serve for the next 3 years. Attached are the applications and MOUs. Please let me know if you have any questions.
*Please submit your order no later than Tuesday, May 21st.*
Note: Please pay particular attention to the Fern section. You have a couple options this time. They offer the traditional 70 ct flats, but they also offer a 48 ct flat. This might be a good option for some of you. Another option they offer is 4.5" ferns. *With this option, you must order in multiples of 30.* This could be any combo of Boston, Sword, and/or Macho (10, 10, 10; 30, 0, 0; 12, 12, 6; etc.). *The only requirement on the 4.5" ferns is that you order in
Attached is the list of Area Officer Applicants that have made it through round one and will be invited to attend the Area Banquets, take the Area Officer written test, deliver a one minute speech, and be voted on as a candidate for Area Officer. The list is in alphabetical order and does not indicate the rank of the application.
After 17 emails, a phone call, and a text, it appears we might need to re-open registration. The caterer is good with us calling him back first thing in the morning. So, I will "un-submit" everyone's registration which will give you the opportunity to go in and adjust your numbers if you need to. This will not cancel your registration, it just gives you the option to edit your registration. I will go in after registration closes and click submit on all chapter registrations allowing the system to generate an invoice for you. If you have any questions, call Stan.
Please register by noon today. Please click submit to generate your invoice. Here's who's registered so far: [image: image.png]

It has come to my attention that that the state degree certificates handed out to North Region students during the state FFA convention listed incorrect signatures on the bottom. We are getting new certificates printed, and my plan is to have them to the North Region staff in time to be handed out at the upcoming Area banquets.
I hope you are all doing well, and I hope you had some time to recover from convention before the start of the week! The FY25 POW is now open for editing. Please be sure to go into your GA Ag Ed account to access your FY25 POW and make changes for the upcoming school year. *All POWs need to be filled out and saved by Wednesday, May 15th.*
My apologies to everyone. It was just brought to my attention that the FY25 POW does not open until tomorrow, April 30th. I jumped the gun a little bit. Please read the 1st email sent out, but be ready to fill out your FY25 POW starting tomorrow.

I hope you are doing well! Attached are the eagerly anticipated results for North Region Proficiency Awards. Thank you for your patience!
There were 217 proficiency applications submitted this year across the North Region. Thank you to all of the teachers that worked hard with these students and to the students themselves for the time and effort that they invested into their SAE programs.
I apologize for the confusion, but earlier I sent out that proficiency corrections are due back for resubmission by March 17th. This date is incorrect, and the correct date is March 15th. Again, I apologize for the confusion.
Sincerely, Kathrine Patel

I've had a couple of questions about when the Discussion Meet Topics would be sent out. The answer (that I didn't remember either!) is, they were sent out on December 5th. So, for those of us who miss things from time to time, here they are! We will announce the specific topics 24 hours in advance for each Area event (like we did last year).

For time's sake, here are the 89 manuscripts we have received. If your student is missing, please let me know asap. I will be sending out a final registration list for all speaking events (creed, extemp, and prepared) later today.
Registration for the preliminary speaking events closes Monday 2/12/24. This includes Creed, Extemporaneous, Junior and Senior Prepared Public Speaking. It is important that we have accurate information at that point, as we need to work with our host schools on securing enough speaking rooms and judges with each event.
Be sure to refer to the CDE Guidelines, especially for the Prepared Speaking events where manuscripts are involved.

Here's what the computer spit out for us. All north region invoices are in this one document. You should be able to just choose the page your invoice is on and print just that one page. I felt the need to leave it in MS Word to give you the ability to make any adjustments necessary for your bookkeeper to process the invoice (without having to go back and forth with me to edit it). If you have questions, or something is an apparent error, please let me know and we'll get it corrected.

Once again, our Floriculture numbers are extremely high (a great problem to have). We will need to run the Junior event in two flights as we did last year. The first flight of teams will begin at 4:30 and should last 1 hour. The second flight of teams will begin at 5:30. This only affects the Junior teams and we will still be finished at approximately the same time as the Senior event.
