As we wrap up the school year and begin preparing for summer and the upcoming school year, this is a great time to start thinking ahead about next year’s Proficiency Applications and National Chapter Applications.
This year, we are trying something a little different. Instead of hosting these workshops in person, both workshops will be offered through Zoom. My hope is that the flexibility of participating virtually will provide more opportunities for teachers to attend without the added travel time and expense.
It's that time again - time to place your 2026 Fall Plant Orders! Our grower, County Farm Plant Company, needs time to secure seed and begin production.

Hahira Middle School in Lowndes County has an opening for an agriculture educator. The program is well developed and includes a greenhouse and an outdoor classroom area that support hands-on instruction. It has a solid group of active members and benefits from consistent support from the community. Combined with the other Lowndes County agriculture programs, there are six agriculture teachers in the system, and the county also offers access to a canning plant as an additional resource. This is an 11-month contract position and offers a good opportunity to continue building on an established program.
Please review the attached document to confirm that we have received your student’s Area Officer Application.
If your student included a headshot within the application instead of as a separate file, please email that image to us again as an individual file. This helps ensure the best possible quality for use in presentations and on social media.

Many of us are asked to participate in Arbor Day Celebrations in our communities, and are asked what trees we recommend. Many times if the celebration is held at the same location annually it is due to the tree not properly being cared for that was planted on the site and dies within one year of planting. We can not make sure the planted tree is watered, not hit with lawn equipment, sprayed with herbicide, or be damaged by a weather related event, but what we can do is make sure it is properly planted.
Please be reminded that we will hold our spring region meeting Monday, April 13 at 4:30 pm. This will be a zoom meeting. The link will be sent on Monday.

Good afternoon. I know you all have been waiting to see these results. I'm sorry for the delay. I had some computer issues. (more like the guy working it). It was great to see each of you and your students yesterday. Thank you for what you do every day in the lives of your students. You have heard me reiterate this so many times with my phrase of "you gotta love the kids", but I firmly believe that if you and I have the best interests of the kids in mind with our efforts, then good things will happen.
Yesterday’s Senior Prepared Public Speaking LDE was a great day of listening to students share agricultural topics they care about and watching them grow as communicators. Thank you for the time and effort you invest in preparing your students for opportunities like this. It takes a great deal of practice, encouragement, and guidance to get a student ready to stand in front of a room and speak with confidence, and that work was clearly evident throughout the day.
Scores have been double checked for accuracy and are now considered OFFICIAL.
Congratulations to the following 4 students who will represent their respective Areas in April at the State FFA Convention for the State LDE (Leadership Development Event) Preliminaries.
Many thanks to all of the judges who took time out of their busy schedules to help judge yesterday's event. We sure appreciate your help and assistance and would like to extend the invitation to come back next year!

This is the information that was going to be shared with you at GVATA.

Good morning, teachers! Thank you to those who participated in our Area Events yesterday at Ware County High School. And a HUGE thank you to Ware County for, once again, opening their doors and being so hospitable. Your kindness does not go unnoticed. Thank you to Mr. Jerry Stone for conducting the Farm and Agribusiness Management CDE yesterday in my absence.
This is a reminder that applications close on November 17th.
Please see pertinent information below about the DNR Career Academy.
Just a friendly reminder that the DNR Career Academy application period closes on November 17th at midnight. The application does require a letter of recommendation from a teacher or advisor, so please encourage students to start the process ASAP.
Teachers, in an email that I sent in October about the FFA Quiz, I listed that registration was at 2:00 with the contest starting at 2:30. That was incorrect. It should have said registration at 2:30 with the contest starting at 3:00
Sorry if I caused any confusion.
