"The Mask You Wear" Performance and Conversation

"The Mask You Wear" is a musical composition collaboratively created by composer Julien Berger and composer and lyricist Cassie Chantel. Supported by the Athens Hip Hop Harmonic, this work blends classical saxophone quartet music with multi-genre vocalist and recording artist Chantel's riveting lyrics. This event will include a live performance of the piece, featuring saxophone quartet Mixed Media with Chantel, and a discussion with the composers moderated by Nkululeko Zungu.

The Torrance Festival of Ideas is a free annual online cultural and educational event where renowned experts from across disciplines present their innovative ideas to the global general public. This year the festival features unique perspectives on themes relevant to innovation, creativity, media, gaming, learning, storytelling, reading, imagination, science, AI, technology, aesthetics, literature, filmmaking, fashion, wellbeing, community health, mental health, aging, education, equality, pollution, conflict, and integrated design. Registration is free but limited to the first 1,500 attendees.

Down The Rabbit Hole, an Opera in One Act

"Down the Rabbit Hole" is a one act opera based on Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland." This production aims to engage new audiences, particularly the young and the young at heart, with both new compositions and opera as an art form while also creating performance opportunities for undergraduate singers and instrumentalists. The Willson Center invites proposals for a new round of Shelter Projects, a micro-fellowship program to support graduate students in the creation of shareable reflections on their experience of the pandemic through the arts and humanities. Applications are open until October 31, with ten $500 micro-fellowships offered initially and more available as funding allows. Projects must be completed by December 31 2021, adhere to the safety advice and requirements of the University System of Georgia, and may be shared in various public communications.

The Willson Center invites proposals for Shelter Projects, a micro-fellowship program to support graduate students and community-based artists and practitioners in the creation of shareable reflections on their experience of the current pandemic through the arts and humanities.

Graduate Students Needed for Research Study on Creativity and Collaboration

If you are interested learning more please reply to Mark Callahan, [log in to unmask], and provide your name, major, and year of study.

UGA graduate students in STEM disciplines and Arts disciplines are invited to take part in a research study to find out how using methods from the arts and collaborating with artists may improve creative inquiry and collaboration in the sciences. Participants must be full-time UGA graduate students and if selected for the treatment group, will be expected to take part in workshops during Spring semester and to provide feedback

"The Case for Collaboration: How NRDC Works with Artists to Bolster Environmental Advocacy"

Elizabeth Corr works with artists, architects, and designers to heighten public awareness of and interest in the environmental issues that face today’s communities. She is the Director of Art Partnerships at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), an international environmental nonprofit organization with over three million members. Corr launched the NRDC’s Artist-in-Residence program, an innovative platform for thoughtful and sustained collaboration between artists and environmental leaders. As a curator she has worked with
