Here at UC Santa Cruz's Map Room, we have been very happy with our
Rubbermaid® "Flat Shelf Utility Cart". It's made of "structural foam
construction" - one of those new plastics that don't look or feel
plastic - which means it's very lightweight, but can hold up to 400
lbs. It has 5" casters, and is extremely easy to maneuver.
It's 33.3 inches high, 26 x 44 flat top, with one lower shelf.
Weighs 42 lbs. The list price in the catalog I have is $191.34.
Its number in the catalog is RUB-452500BGE. The catalog I'm
quoting from is Palace Office Supply, a local business, online at
http://www.gopalace.com I haven't checked the standard library
supply catalogs, or whether Rubbermaid might have a web site.
It does not have sides around the top, like I believe some of the
"map trucks" do, which means items slightly larger than the top can
be accommodated without falling off. We have found it to be a
wonderful way to move maps around easily.
