Yes, it's just as bad as it's reported
to be. Through sheer good luck, about
21 years ago I selected an apartment
complex that has enabled me to
weather earthquake, floods, and
now fire without even an evacuation warning -
so far! Evac-warning area is 2-3 blocks
from where I live (if you're feeling
USGS-7.5'-quad-oriented - that's on the
Santa Barbara quad, between Cottage
Hospital and Highway 101).
The UCSB Campus has one of the evacuation
centers located on it and is relatively
distant from the wild fires - again,
in UGSS-quad talk, it's on the Goleta quad,
on campus point.
