Gee, he could have saved money on the Oregon ones if he had visited my
website. I've got most of Western Oregon, and there is an easy link to a
site where the whole state is covered.
A 5 minute browsing session also shows them for:
The Bay area:
http://bard.wr.usgs.gov/htmldir/drg_html/index.html
978 quads for NY State via CUGIR:
http://cugir.mannlib.cornell.edu/
Granted, I really need to update my links pages, but it's not all that
hard to find this stuff online.
So as a publicity stunt, it's great. It calls attention to a problem.
But as a practical solution? I would have used that $1600 for something
else.
And the important questions about this data is left unanswered: is he
posting them with collars or no collars? world files or not? tiffs or
MrSID?
A centralized place for all the 7.5' DRGs would be cool: so that's a
worthwhile venture. However, I'm dubious that it doesn't exist. Can
someone prove him wrong?
Or maybe here's a better challenge: can this list come up with links to
all 49-states' DRGs? (I don't think Alaska full 24k coverage, right?) I
hereby volunteer to receive the emails and put up a page that links to all
the sites.
Here's Oregon:

TIFFs, worldfiles, no collars, arranged by Ohio Code.
