Project Scientist – Forest Ecosystem Modeling
DUTIES:

Development of a modified/new soil-root module for a pine stand model (FORSANA)
in order to model pine stand development on former lignite minesites in Lusatia
(Germany) with substrates characterized by pyrite weathering based on data collected
within the framework of a multidisciplinary research project during 4 years.
Dynamic modeling:
- Extension of model to include initial stand development (before canopy closure).
- Validation of model in cooperation with a multi-disciplinary research team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This job requires detailed knowledge of computer simulation combined
with knowledge of forest tree physiology and soil science.
- detailed knowledge and experience in process modeling required.
- detailed knowledge and experience in temperate forest ecosystem
research required.
- ability to communicate effectively in German in order to interact
with researchers from differing disciplinary background.

This position will be posted at the Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus.
The appointment will be for the project duration of 1,5 years
with the possibility to be extended within the framework of a
collaborative research centre.
