>Pre-proposal concept notes are invited for the second round of the African
>Fellows Programme for Research and Training, a grant scheme started in

>sub-Saharan Africa, by catalysing innovative solutions needed to achieve

>Projects should aim to develop lasting partnerships and strategic
>alliances that will help in developing local scientific capacity relevant

>African scientists selected for the programme will carry out research
>projects in a partner European research institute or university for
>periods of 4 to 12 months.

>Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis in a two stage assessment

>Research projects need to:
>    * be focused on solving an agricultural problem or constraint
>    * demonstrate a clear path from research to application
>    * be of benefit to smallholder African farmers and the rural
>    * economy

>Examples of potential project areas include integrated crop/livestock

>alternative crops.

>Pre-proposal concept notes are now being accepted for the second round of

>Full proposals will be requested from short-listed applicants who are
