Claudene Sproles:
I would hazard a guess that, for instance, the Virginia Historical
Society's Library (http://www.vahistorical.org/research/main.htm), in
Richmond VA, could provide a helpful reply . . .

I have a patron who is trying to decipher a reference in the book:
Virginia place names: derivations, historical uses. by Hanson, Raus
McDill. (Verona, Va., McClure Press, 1969)
The book cites a source called "Steeles" but there is no mention of it
in the bibliography. Does anyone have any idea what this Steeles source
could be?
Thanks,
Claudene Sproles
