Dear all,
Not sure if Jeff would still need it, but I received emails from four
others asking about it (compiling/running CSM on Linux), so I made a
quick post listing the steps that I used (but not necessarily the best
way) at:
http://labs.harvestchoice.org/?p=1934
Hope it helps!
Regards,
Jawoo
PS. While you're at it, the HarvestChoice Labs is the data/tool blog
site where the HarvestChoice team and partners share experimental
materials with researchers. I regularly post crop modeling-related
articles there, so feel free to look around. Any comment/feedback always
welcome! :)

Subject: RE: Re: WINE w DSSAT?
Hi Jeff and Daniel,
I tried this using the batch mode on 4.5-beta (not the shell program)
few years ago. I remember it ran okay and showed the same results as
Windows, but the performance was not very impressive.
However, soon after that I was able to compile dscsm045.exe on Linux
(CentOS) using Intel Fortran Compiler, with a lot of performance boost.
I didn't see a need to use WINE anymore, so I quickly abandoned it (Wine
is for drinking, I thought).
If you need to do the same, let me know and I'll write another message
in a bit more detail on the compiling and running DSSAT on Linux (it's
pretty straightforward - but there is a minor tweak needed, depending on
the mode you're running).
Cheers,
Jawoo

Hi Jeffrey,
I tried to install DSSAT ( version 4.0.2.0, I believe) on Ubuntu 9.1
under
Wine (can't remember the version) and had *no success*. As far as I
remember, someone asked a similar question during the first semester of
2010. Were you able to find the thread?
Please update the listserv with instructions if you succeed to install
DSSAT
with Wine.
