A Post-doc position open at Technion, Haifa, Israel

A 3-year project, sponsored by the European Union, is starting now (March
1999). The role of Technion is to develop a dynamic lettuce model, capable
of predicting changes in the nitrate content, as a result of manipulation
of the greenhouse environment (light, temperature, CO2, availability of
nutrients). A rudimentary model, available upon request, has to be much
expanded and calibrated, based on data from the literature and from the
other participants (The Netherlands and Belgium). The model is intended to
become the basis for an optimal control scheme of the greenhouse environment.

We seek a junior scientist (Ph.D. candidate or post-doc) with experience in
dynamic plant or population modeling. The duties of the scientist will be
literature review, model development, simulation in 'Simulink' (Matlab),
model calibration and reporting in English.

Further information can be obtained from Professor Ido Seginer, telephone
972-4-829-2874, fax 972-4-822-1529. e-mail <[log in to unmask]>.
