Brendan,
Unless this is already covered by one of the scanning projects via UCSB
(c/o Larry Cruse or Mary Larsgaard), we have three options:-
1) A 1907-dated (printed bottom right corner) 'Blatteinteiling der
Uebersichtskarte von Mitteleuropa 1:300 000. Herausgegeben von der
Kartographischen Abteilung der Koenigl. Preuss. Landesaufnahme.',
meridian of Ferro used, no grid indication, has printed black corners to
many sheets, and ca 20 sheets/editions (Germany) marked off by light
blue pencil diagonal stroke. A former RGS Map Room employee has headed
the index in MS (blue pencil): Index of the French generalisation of the
[. . .] Mitteleuropa 1:300 000.'
2) 'Blatteinteiling der Uebersichtskarte von Mitteleuropa 1:300 000.',
([Berlin :] Kartographische Abteilung der Koenigl[iche]. Preussisches
Landesaufnahme [, ca 1910?]); meridian of Ferro used. The RGS Map
Room's exemplar (accessioned 22 June 1910 [?]) has added in MS (pencil)
both an alphanumeric grid and dates of sheets/editions (range: 1894
'Duenamuende (Ust Dwinsk)' to 1926 'Coeln'), with sheets held here shown
by (mostly) red pencil diagonal stroke.
3) 'Schwarzausgabe der Uebersichtskarte von Mitteleuropa 1:300 000.',
(Berlin : Reichskartenstelle des Reichsamt fuer Landesaufnahme [, ca
1930]); meridian of Greenwich used; the 'Schwarzausgabe' merely refers
to the fact that those sheets produced in b-&-w are indicated by a
corner triangle of relevant sheets [cf option 1 supra]; printed
alphanumeric grid. The RGS Map Room's exemplar (accessioned 8 July 1930
- but there is a sheet named 'St. Petersburg', and the post-1919 Baltic
countries etc. are shown and named) has both MS (pencil) extension of
the series to NE as far as 'Moskau' and dates of sheets/editions added
(range: 1895 'Dawidgrodek' to 1937 'Hamburg'); most sheets are marked
off as held in the Map Room by means of a blue pencil diagonal stroke.
If any of these are of worth please e-mail: [log in to unmask]

Can anyone email me a scan of an index for the German "Uebersichtskarte
von Mitteleuropa" 1:300,000? The series dates from the late 1800s/WW1
period?
Thank you!
