CIMMYT is leading a cooperative effort among international
     centers to develop a database system for genetic resources,
     plant breeding and agronomic trials (including
     international trials).  We expect to offer the option of
     outputting data in the DSSAT3 format, but it may take us a
     couple of years to get there.
 
     The first version, IWIS (International Wheat Information
     System), was written in Access and Visual Basic.  It is
     available on CD-ROM, but is slow enough that it is better
     to load all 300 MB to a hard drive.  Development of IWIS
     was partially supported Australia, Canada and the US, and
     the expectation clearly is that IWIS will be a tool for the
     global wheat research community.
