Subject: USGS A-76 Competition Suspended

Hello All,
The latest from Federal Computer Week (October 21, 2005).
The director of the U.S. Geological Survey has suspended considerations
to outsource or eliminate most of the agency's major mapping technology
operations because of controversy over the integrity of selecting its
new operations center's location.
The rest of the story is at:
http://www.fcw.com/article91185-10-21-05-Web
However, there are still some significant concerns over the health of
the USGS Libraries, given the mass retirements that occurred last fall
because of the buyouts. Linda Zellmer
