As you may know, ASPRS sponsored a survey on the subject issue last summer which was designed to assist the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in determining the future of the Nation's moderate resolution land imaging program.

The overall response to this survey was strong, with nearly 1300 participating.  We therefore have a high degree of confidence in the summary findings, and an even greater appreciation for the breadth and depth of use of moderate resolution imagery, as well as strong support for Landsat throughout the user community.

We are currently in the process of developing report text that will supplement this material and which will eventually be published in an upcoming issue of Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing.

One of the greatest assets of this survey is the collection of operational and research program descriptions, together with related website references, for use in future analyses.  Clearly the decision makers in the senior levels of the U.S. government have already benefited from the information gathered in this survey.
